Workshop Managers
Rate range - £19 - £25 per hour


Background
Silverbox Kids is looking for a highly organised and responsible individual with experience in education, creative workshop management, or youth work to oversee the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of our Visual Arts workshops.

Our workshops provide young people aged 8 - 16 years with a creative space to develop skills in:

🎬 Film-Making | ✍️ Comic Book Creation | 🧸 Animation | 📷 Photography | 🎭 Acting for Camera | 🎶 Sound & Music Design | 📝 Creative Writing

We run After School Clubs, Weekend Clubs, Holiday Schools, and curriculum-based school projects, focusing on creativity, collaboration, and technical skill development.

The Role
As a Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the administrative, safeguarding, and logistical aspects of workshops, ensuring that every session runs smoothly, safely, and in line with Silverbox Kids’ policies.

You will act as the main safeguarding lead, oversee risk management, handle reporting, and communicate with parents, schools, and Silverbox upper management.

While this role involves administration and compliance, there is still an expectation to be active in sessions, supporting and leading workshops as needed.

📌 An Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training are required (provided by Silverbox).

Responsibilities​

Administration & Compliance:
✅ Registers & Attendance: Maintain accurate student registers and attendance records.
✅ Safeguarding Lead: Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring all safeguarding protocols are followed.
✅ Risk Assessments: Complete and maintain risk assessments for workshops, venues, and activities.
✅ Accident & Incident Reporting: Log and report any accidents, injuries, or behavioral incidents.
✅ Fire & Equipment Safety: Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and equipment handling protocols.

Reporting & Communication:
📩 Schools & Partners: Provide updates and reports to partner schools on workshop progress and student engagement.
📞 Parents & Guardians: Communicate with parents about student participation, concerns, and achievements.
📋 Silverbox Upper Management: Report on workshop performance, student feedback, and areas for improvement.

Workshop Oversight & Support:
🎭 Active Participation: Support the Workshop Leaders in delivering engaging sessions.
🎨 Creative Guidance: Assist in setting up materials, guiding students, and troubleshooting technical issues.
👥 Behavior Management: Help maintain a positive, structured learning environment.

Team Leadership & Staff Support:

👩‍🏫 Mentor & Support Staff: Provide guidance to Workshop Leaders, Assistants, and Volunteers.
📑 Training & Policy Enforcement: Ensure staff understand and follow safeguarding, health, and safety policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:
✅ Experience in youth work, education, workshop facilitation, or creative program management.
✅ Strong administrative and organisational skills.
✅ Knowledge of safeguarding policies, risk assessments, and child protection procedures.
✅ Confident communicating with parents, schools, and management.

Desired:
📷 Background in Visual Arts, Digital Media, or Creative Education.
📑 Experience in staff supervision and team leadership.
🩹 First Aid Certification (Training Provided).

Hours & Commitment
​
  • Various, based on active projects.
  • Weekdays: Typically 2-3 hours between 3pm - 6pm, plus additional admin/reporting time.
  • Additional hours may be required for planning, training, and emergency reporting.
