Workshop Assistant
Rate - £6.40 - £11.44 per hour
Background:
We are always on the hunt for talented individuals with an interest in creative multimedia that would like to help to create fun/safe spaces for young people. These spaces are dedicated to providing young people with the opportunity to explore their creativity and learn new skills.
Silverbox Kids creates multimedia workshops for children aged 8 - 16 years with a slant towards film-making.
We have been operating across the South East for 18 years.
Our regular activities include: After School Clubs, Weekend Clubs, Holiday Schools, School based (curriculum focused) multimedia projects and 121 tuition.
The Role:
We don't require you to have past experience in film-making, just a passion for the subject. You will need to be comfortable with using technology at the very least.
Our main priority is that you enjoy working with young people and don't mind getting a little silly when the moment calls for it. There is an expectation that you will be a good role model for the students. You will be supporting our Workshop Manager and Workshop Leader. They will be chiefly in charge of student welfare and behaviour during the workshops but you will be expected to help with reporting concerns to management.
As part of our dedication to safety you will be required to pass and maintain an enhanced DBS check in order to be considered for the role as well as undergo safeguarding training where required. We will provide this to any successful candidates.

Responsibilities:
- Technical Skills:
- Transfer data from cameras correctly and independently.
- Set up cameras for student use.
- Troubleshoot workshop camera issues.
- Adhere to the file management system on all laptops.
- Set up laptops at the start of each session.
- Import assets (sound, music, VFX) as needed.
- Communication:
- Reinforce club rules as set out by the workshop manager.
- Control group behavior using communication tools.
- Arrive in uniform and maintain professionalism.
- Set boundaries with students as necessary.
- Confidently take the register and introduce workshop plans.
- Safety:
- Understand and adhere to risk assessment procedures.
- Ensure equipment safety and reinforce safety protocols with students.
- Understand child protection policies and procedures.
- Report any child care concerns to workshop managers.
- Workshop Activities:
- Participate in workshop games.
- Assist students in pre-production, production, and post-production activities.
- Help students stay on track and achieve tasks within designated timeframes.
- Gather behind-the-scenes footage as required.
- Time Management:
- Arrive on time for each session.
- Independently keep track of club dates and commitments.
- Commit to approximately 2 hours per day, typically between 3pm - 6pm each weekday.
Qualifications:
- Completion and maintenance of Child Protection Certificate Level 1 and Level 2 compliance (Training Provided)
- Emergency First Aid Certificate (Training Provided)
- DBS Certificate Compliance (Provided)

- Film-making or creative digital media experience is desired but not essential.
